It's March and that means a month comprised of March Madness, Daylight Savings hysteria (Spring forward, people), and St. Patrick's Day. But one national holiday we certainly hope you don't overlook is Women's History Month.
During this time, we honor those women who have made significant cultural and historical contributions to our society. Celebrated by the United State, the United Kingdom (cheerio!), and Australia, Women's History Month coincides with International Women's Day, a holiday which occurs annually on the 8th of March.
Women's History Month dates back to the early 1900's. As such, it is highly acknowledged by United States Presidents ranging from Jimmy Carter to Barack Obama; perserving the sentiment that, "Behind every great man there is a great woman." With President's Day just behind us, it's important for us to remember the influence that our First Ladies carry in shaping our country's rich history. After all, they too have evoked emotion, inspiration and change in their actions and more importantly, their wise words.
