Functional Service Provider (FSP) for Life Sciences
Expand your reach, not your risk.
In life sciences, you can’t afford to lose sight of your data or your standards. Yoh’s STEM-driven FSP model embeds expert teams inside your systems, so your work scales without compromise.
FSP that keeps you in control of your systems, SOPs, and outcomes.
FSP Results You Can Measure
What good science looks like in numbers.
Long-term partnerships. Near-perfect retention. Consistent delivery in the world’s most demanding environments. Here’s what that looks like in action with our life sciences partners.

Solving the problems that stall progress.
In regulated environments, small cracks in oversight or continuity can grow into major risks. Yoh’s FSP model closes the gaps that keep programs from scaling with speed, compliance, and control.

Lack of visibility into data and processes.
Losing visibility into your data means losing control of your outcomes. Yet that’s the reality for many sponsors working with traditional Contract Research Organization (CRO) models whose own SOPs and processes can distance you from your standards, make progress feel remote, delay updates, and widen the gap between intention and execution.
Yoh eliminates that gap with a flexible approach to FSP that embeds expert teams directly into your systems and SOPs, giving you real-time access to the information that drives decisions. You retain the authority, visibility, and control of an insourced model, while Yoh manages the structure, performance, and compliance that keep programs moving.
Costly cycles of hiring and layoffs.
Few things slow innovation faster than volatility. Hire too soon, and overhead rises. Cut too deep, and critical knowledge walks out the door. It’s a pattern the life sciences industry knows too well, and one Yoh’s FSP model is built to break.
We provide functional teams that scale with your science. When studies ramp up, we expand; when they slow, we scale back. You stay staffed with the right people at the right time. No layoffs, no scramble, no lost momentum.
High markups from large CROs.
Large CROs often come with large price tags—and even larger overhead. Every layer adds cost: Oversight teams, internal markups, and the shifting focus that comes with portfolio-based prioritization. What starts as a partnership turns into premium pricing, with sponsors footing the bill for bureaucracy and losing visibility in the process.
Yoh keeps it lean. By embedding experts directly inside your systems and SOPs, we remove the bureaucracy that inflates budgets. You gain transparency, predictable pricing, and delivery that revolves around your goals.
Heavy administrative burden and risk.
Managing a network of individual contractors takes more time than it should and can bring on more risk than it’s worth. Between onboarding, payroll, and compliance, every task adds another layer of oversight. When processes differ from person to person, gaps appear, and efficiency starts to slip.
Yoh’s FSP model replaces that patchwork with a unified system. We handle the structure (governance, performance, and compliance), so you can stay focused on the science. You still get the flexibility you need, only now it runs smoother, safer, and with far less admin in the way.
Turnover and lost continuity.
Outsourcing often trades speed for stability. Each time a contractor moves on, so does the knowledge, context, and momentum your team worked hard to build. Progress slows, and continuity disappears just when consistency matters most.
Yoh’s FSP model changes that. Our specialists are full-time Yoh employees, dedicated entirely to your program and supported by ongoing training, leadership, and benefits. Because they operate inside your systems and culture, they stay invested for the long haul, carrying forward the insight and experience that keep your studies steady and on schedule.
Your systems. Your standards. Our FSP expertise.
Yoh’s FSP teams plug into your systems and SOPs, bringing the structure, science, and staying power your work need to move forward without missing a beat.

Functional Service Provider (FSP) FAQs
What is an FSP?
FSP, or Functional Service Provision, is a structured, insourced operating model in which Yoh provides dedicated, vendor-managed teams that perform defined functions within a client's organization, such as trial management, biometrics validation, lab support, and medical communications.
Unlike traditional staffing solutions, FSP includes Yoh-led oversight, governance, and performance management for consistency, compliance, and scalability. Teams integrate into the sponsor companies' ecosystem, utilizing the sponsor's systems and SOPs.
How can a client leverage an FSP solution if they have no systems and SOPs?
FSP operating models can adapt to your infrastructure. Yoh can either partner with existing vendors to provide systems or supply our own SOPs if requested.
Can the sponsor company end services prior to the SOW end dates?
Yes. FSP solutions are flexible and provide the sponsor company with the ability to shift resources on and off projects based on workload volume. Traditionally, terms are aligned within the SOW for ramp-down schedules based on the number of resources.
How does an FSP solution differ from a staff augmentation solution?
A true FSP solution provides hands-on task management and structured delivery, allowing sponsors to focus on strategic initiatives. In contrast, staff augmentation provides administrative support while the sponsor manages daily tasks.
How can an FSP solution provide compliance for co-employment laws?
FSP SOWs outline defined scopes of work at fixed monthly costs, unlike hourly contractor agreements. Yoh manages its full-time employees directly, providing all benefits and handling compensation.
What are the cost savings when comparing FSP vs FSO service offerings and why?
Industry data shows FSP solutions deliver 20-30% cost savings versus FSO models due to reduced overhead and fixed-price costing across multiple projects.
