I am a Recruiter for Yoh, a national provider of talent and outsourcing services. Currently, I work under our Recruitment Process Outsourcing line of business and achieved Yoh CIR and Yoh CIR 2.0 completion.
Why do you love recruiting?
Much like everybody else, I fell into recruiting. But one experience made me stay in the field. I was working as an agency recruiter placing light industrial and clerical workers when one day a candidate came into my office looking to be placed. He was a native Spanish speaker, didn’t speak English very well and could only work nights. I found him a janitorial job where he could work in the evening and not have to speak to too many people right away. It seemed to be a good fit. About a month later he was hired permanently and came into my office holding a refrigerator magnet of St. Jude, the patron saint of lost causes and he said to me, “Thank you for believing in me, you’ve made my American dream come true.” Even today when I think about that it gets me choked up. I still have that magnet on my fridge today.
Why do you like working for Yoh?
One of the things I enjoyed most about working for Yoh is the collaboration within the company between different teams and different functions. Every single day there are people reaching out across departments in order to accomplish their tasks.
How have you been such a successful recruiter over the years?
To be a successful recruiter you need to be a good listener. You need to win for your clients, you need to win for your candidates and you need to listen to the needs of both of those parties. If you don’t, you’re not going to get the best match. If you can accomplish both of those tasks, you can’t lose.
