Positive human emotion expression feeling life perception attitude body languageHow would you like to get paid for doing the thing you love most in the world? Do you ever look at someone who’s living their dream life, touring the world or making money by simply doing something they’re passionate about? Want this kind of life for yourself?

While it may seem like a longs hot, there are plenty of opportunities to turn your passions into a profitable career, and today, we’re going to explore eleven ways you can make it happen!

1. Start Small

Whatever it is you want to do, make sure you’re not quitting your day job and jumping straight into it. Always start small and experiment with a few ideas before seeing what works and then move forward one step at a time.

2. Do Your Research

Are there already people out there making money doing what you want to do? If so, what are they doing and how did they get there? What are they not doing that you could learn from and do better?

3. Network with People

Much of life is not what you know, but who you know, so get out there and network. Network with people in the industry you’re trying to get into. Network with the people in your life and tell them what you’re up too, and network on social media. You never know who you’ll meet or what opportunities you’ll find.

4. Get Educated

During the process of turning your passion into a hobby, sooner or later you’re going to need to learn something new. Perhaps you’re starting your own business and need to learn how to run the finances, or there’s a part of your passion you need to perfect. Look for courses and qualifications that could help you improve these skills.

5. Consider Finances

It’s all well and good having an idea that could change the world, or at least for the people in it, but to get started you’re going to need investments. You have to spend money to make money. Make sure you’re not just piling money into your project, be organized and have a budget.

6. Create Deadlines

“It’s easy to go through life while having these dreams and ambitions on what you want to achieve, but without setting deadlines for yourself, you’ll keep ‘working towards it,’ but nothing will ever be achieved. Make sure you’re setting goals and deadlines to pressure yourself,” explains Tom Gruier, an SMM for Australia2Write and Brit Student.

7. Listen to Feedback

It’s so easy to get caught up in the process of making your dream a reality that you might forget to stop and listen to what reality actually is. Listen to the feedback you’re getting from people when you talk about your idea and grow from it.

8. Keep Growing

Every single minute you spent on turning your passion into a career, whether you’re going self-employed or actively looking for a job in your required industry, is a step closer towards your goal. Be mindful of what you’re doing and the journey you’re on. Enjoy it!

9. Don’t Focus on Money

“While you still need to pay the bills, make sure you’re not focusing too much on the money side of things, but more on doing what you love, especially if you have a job supporting you in the meanwhile,” shares Lisa Pollard, a senior marketer for Next Coursework.

10. Failure is the Blueprint for Success

During this whole process, there’s bound to be something that happens that you would deem a failure; a point where something didn’t go as expected. However, remember that you shouldn’t be put off by this, and failure is all part of the learning process.

11. Jump In and Do It

At one point in your path, there comes the point where you’ll need to take a plunge and really go for your dreams. When it gets to this stage, remember you’ve got what it takes to make it happen, so just go and do it! Don’t give up!
